All participants, please read the following agreement carefully and sign where indicated. In the case of participants under the age of 18 years, a parent or guardian must also read the agreement and sign where indicated.
1. SAFE, RESPECTFUL, INCLUSIVE THEATRE ENVIRONMENT:
We strive to create an environment in which all members of our musical theatre team feel safe, respected, and included. This supportive team environment is imperative in ensuring successful rehearsals and performances. As such, all participants are expected not to disrespect others, defy authority, disrupt rehearsals, vandalize property, or act in any manner that disrupts a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment.
If a participant does not meet the expectations set out above, they may be dismissed from their role in the production and/or the course.
2. ATTENDING ALL SCHEDULED REHEARSALS AND PERFORMANCES:
Musical theatre is a collaborative activity where cast and crew rely on one another. If participants are absent from rehearsals it prevents the cast and crew from making the most of their rehearsal time and may adversely affect the final performances. As such, participants must attend all scheduled rehearsals and performances. Participants should be prepared be available on all rehearsal dates.
Participants may only miss rehearsals due to illness, medical emergency, or family emergency or for reasons that were agreed upon by the Artistic Director before the start of rehearsals.
More than two unexcused absences may result in an individual being dismissed from their role in the production and/or the course.
3. SIGNING IN AND OUT OF REHEARSALS AND PERFORMANCES:
All participants must sign in and out of all rehearsals and performances. Participants under the age of 16 must be signed in and out of rehearsals and performances by a parent or guardian, without exception. Please come into the theatre to sign for participants.
4. ARRIVING PREPARED FOR REHEARSALS:
All actors must arrive on time with a script, pencil, highlighter, and water bottle. All crew should arrive with whatever materials they require for rehearsals.
Actors should wear bring appropriate clean indoor footwear (i.e. no flip flops or winter boots in the theatre) and clothing in which they can move comfortably (i.e. leggings, sweatpants, t-shirts, etc.). Outdoor footwear is not permitted on the stage or in the theatre. Please bring character shoes to the theatre early in the rehearsal process if requested for the performance.
5. NOTICE OF ABSENCE FROM CLASSES, REHEARSALS, AND PERFORMANCES:
If a participant will be absent from a rehearsal or performance it is the responsibility of the student or parent, as the case may be, to advise the production team of this absence as soon as possible by text to our Artistic Director, Melanie Baux, at 403.890.1700 including your name, date, and the reason for the absence.
6. TRELLO:
We will be using the Trello app as our primary means of communicating with participants. Rehearsal schedules, changes to rehearsal schedules, background tracks, blocking videos, choreography videos, and important notes regarding the course will be posted on Trello. It is the responsibility of participants and parents to download the Trello app, familiarize themselves with the app, and check it frequently for updated information.
7. LEARNING LINES, MUSIC/LYRICS, BLOCKING, AND CHOREOGRAPHY:
Participants are responsible for learning their lines, lyrics/music, blocking, and choreography. They are responsible for writing down their own blocking and character notes so they can practice on their own time and can recall what they are doing from one rehearsal to the next. Actors are also responsible for memorizing their lines before the off book date which will be set by the Director.
8. TRANSPORTATION TO AND FROM REHEARSALS AND PERFORMANCES:
Participants, or their parents in the case of participants under the age of 16 years, are responsible for making sure they have timely transportation to and from all rehearsals and performances.
