Winter 2023: RAISE YOUR VOICE YOUTH MUSICAL THEATRE REVUE COURSES

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Have you ever wanted to sing all your favourite musical theatre songs in one show? Now’s your chance!
We are offering two courses as follows:
Beginners: for participants ages 7 to 11 years old (as of January 19, 2023). No prior musical theatre experience is required.
Advanced: for participants ages 12 to 16 years old (as of January 19, 2023).

Rehearsals and performances take place at the Swamp Donkey Theatre in Bragg Creek. Regular rehearsals take place on Thursday evenings at the times listed below.
The course culminates with a fully staged musical revue featuring songs from a number of different musicals before live audiences.
All costs including scripts, scores, costumes, props, etc. are included in the registration fee.
COURSE SCHEDULE:
Course participants should be available for ALL regular rehearsals, tech week rehearsals, and performances listed below unless approval is provided by our Artistic Director, Melanie Baux in writing PRIOR to registration (artisticswampdonkeytheatre@gmail.com).
Regular Rehearsals: January 19 to March 16, 2023
- Thursday evenings:
- Beginners: 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.
- Advanced class: 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
- Note: There is overlap between the two classes to allow both classes to rehearse large group numbers together.
Tech Week (both classes):
- Run Through: Monday, March 20, 2023 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
- Tech Rehearsal: Tuesday, March 21, 2023 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
- Dress Rehearsal: Thursday, March 23, 2023 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
Performances (both classes, 3 performances total):
- Friday, March 24, 2023 at 7:00 p.m.
- Saturday, March 25, 2023 at 2:00 p.m.
- Saturday, March 25, 2023 at 7:00 p.m.
Note: The call time for all performances (i.e. the time participants must arrive) is 1.5 hours before the performance.
AUDITIONS:
Students should be prepared to sing a song of their choosing, preferably a musical theatre song, at the first rehearsal. Please bring an accompaniment track for the song to the first rehearsal. This song sharing opportunity will help us to get to know each other and assess which role is best suited to each student. All students will be cast in roles in the performance.
REQUISITE FORMS:
Participants must complete the requisite forms in order to participate in the course. The forms can be found at https://swampdonkeytheatre.ca/forms/. Please submit the forms to us by email at swampdonkeytheatre@gmail.com prior to the first class or in-person at the first class. Students are NOT permitted to participate until ALL forms are submitted.
